Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Did You See It ("the Service", "we", "us") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The Service is offered in the United States and Canada only, and is currently in an invite-only pilot.
What we collect
- Your phone number. It is your account identity and the number we text alerts to. We use Twilio to send and verify text messages, and to look up whether your number is a mobile, landline, or VoIP line.
- Inbox connections. When you connect an email account, we store the credential needed to read it: a revocable authorization from your email provider, or an app-specific password you create. Credentials are stored encrypted.
- Your rules. The rules you create, in your own words, including any sender, person, topic, and timing settings.
- Match history. A record of which rules matched and when, including the label of the rule that matched.
- Consent records. When you accept one of our disclosures, we record which version you accepted and when, together with your phone number at that moment, a shortened form of your IP address (the network prefix, not your full address), and your device's browser or app identifier (user agent). We keep this as evidence of your consent for as long as your account exists.
- Sign-in information. Session records for the devices you sign in on, including a device label, the user agent, and a shortened IP address.
How your email is processed
To check your email against your rules, the Service reads messages in the inboxes you connect. This happens on our servers. Those servers can access your email while it is being processed.
Your inbox credentials and the data we keep from your email are encrypted at rest under a key unique to your account. Your phone number is kept as ordinary account contact information so that we can text you.
AI processing
An AI model hosted by Anthropic, which acts as our sub-processor, interprets the rules you type and checks your email against rules about a person or a topic. Anthropic receives the rule text you type, and the email text needed for each check. Each check is a separate request containing only your rule and the email text it needs. Your email is never used to train AI models. Rules that match an exact sender address are checked without AI.
Text messages
We use your phone number to send you the text alerts and service messages you agreed to receive, and sign-in codes when you request them. Twilio, our text-message provider, receives your phone number and the text of each message, which includes the label of the rule that matched. See the SMS Terms in our Terms & Conditions.
We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
What we do not do
- We never use your email to train AI models.
- We never sell your information, and never use your email for advertising.
- We do not build profiles or draw inferences about you from your email or your rules. The only usage data we track is information that does not come from the content of your email or rules, such as the number of rules you have or how many texts were sent.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account. Deleting it erases your rules, inbox connections, match history, consent records, and the encryption key for your data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will ask you to review and accept the new version in the app. We will not treat your acceptance of an earlier version as acceptance of a later one.
